Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Consultant

The Position
An opportunity is available a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist with a range of interventional skills that is also able to do general diagnostic radiology including CT, Ultrasound, general imaging and MRI sessions. You will join a team of 10 consultants and 3 registrars that have an interesting and varied workload, carrying out around 96,000 examinations per year. You will be working with up to date equipment including CT, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, DSA, and seven general digital radiography rooms and Nuclear Medicine with two gamma cameras. For the right consultant, there is the opportunity to do both private and public services.

The department requires someone who has the following interventional skills:
• Vascular intervention including angioplasty/ stenting, embolisation (neuro skills NOT needed)
• Biliary intervention, access, stenting
•  All drain insertions
• Biopsies
• Vascular access including haemodialysis access and PICC line insertions
• MSK intervention, eg US guided steroid injections is desirable
• Breast work (optional)

Located in a provincial city, the hospital has 350 beds and cares for a total regional population of around 166,000. It is a teaching hospital that has close ties to major New Zealand Universities. The District Health Board is currently undergoing a transformational change programme to firmly establish itself as a high performing health system, making this a very exciting time to join. It is currently working on its investment in developing primary and community care services and relationships to move care into and closer to people’s homes.

Essential Criteria
To be successful in applying for this position you must be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and hold specialist qualifications.
