You will be working in both a community and inpatient setting. You will work with the senior clinicians and managers to help plan, organise, implement and evaluate developments in the mental health service as well as offering support and education to students and junior staff.
Whilst showing a commitment to effective, safe and ethical psychiatry practice you will put your prior experience in to practise, building strong relationships within the team and with staff and agencies outside the service. One of these relationships will be to develop and maintain an effective two-way referral network with GP’s and other medical staff.

Servicing a population of around 100,000 this mental health service includes an Acute Inpatient Unit, non-acute rehabilitation unit as well as various community services. With a focus on acute care and community care, with this role you will spend time in the 30 bed Acute-Mental health inpatient service. The 30 beds are made up of 6 high dependency unit and 24 low dependency unit beds. As for community care, there are ambulatory based services.
The rehabilitation unit consists of 20 beds for voluntary and detained patients, with the average length of stay lasting from 3-6 months.

With a demonstrated ability to provide clinical services and leadership in an acute mental health team you will hold or be eligible to hold registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
You will also have a current unrestricted NSW Class C drivers licence or equivalent.

|UK/Ireland||Must hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more|
|USA||Must hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.|
|Canada||Must hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.|
Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
