== The Position == The role of Consultant General Surgeon includes providing high quality assessment and care to inpatients and outpatients in efficient manner. You will also provide clinical leadership and support to junior doctors and students. In this role you will participate in the surgical roster and provide high quality, patient centred inpatient care to surgical patients. You will also be expected to provide endoscopy service. The Hospital This health service has an Emergency Department that sees approximately 20,000 presentations annually in a region with a growing population. It is a health service which incorporates a long-established hospital with 51 acute beds, 17 sub-acute beds, a modern theatre suite, emergency department, short stay unit and maternity services. There are also various day units such as the newly built 10 chair Oncology/Medical Ambulatory Day Unit. == The Location == As the gateway to the Lakes and Wilderness region and only an easy 3 hour drive from Melbourne, this little city is situated in a major regional centre. Successful applicants will also hold either General or limited AHPRA registration
