== The Position == As a Consultant General Surgeon you will provide expert surgical and endoscopy services within a large multidisciplinary team providing services across a very broad range of acute, emergency, inpatient, outpatient, primary health and community support services. You will provide clinical leadership within the surgical division including the supervision of junior medical staff, midwives and nurses. For trainees you will also contribute to the strategic direction of the surgical unit. The role will also include participation in rounds, an on-call roster and clinical audits.    The Health Service You will be joining a major provider of health and residential aged care services with more than 70 acute beds: 180 high and low care residential aged care beds, as well as 15 independent living units. Acute services include an operating suite, emergency department, critical care unit, obstetrics, level 2 nursery and paediatric services. The surgical team includes 3 Consultant General Surgeons, 3 Registrars (1RACS accredited 2 unaccredited) and one Intern. Surgical specialities include Orthopaedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Gynaecology and Obstetrics and Paediatric Surgery. The Perioperative Services comprise of a 17 bed surgical ward, 2 operating rooms, 1 endoscopy room, a day procedure unit and central sterilising supply department. The perioperative unit also incorporates the pre-admission clinic and waiting list management services. == The Location == Unspoilt  beaches, lakes and waterfront villages. The area also has a strong educational sector with numerous schools including a private school based not far from where you will be working making the town an ideal place to raise your family. == Essential Criteria ==  A primary medical qualification registrable with the Medical Practitioners Board (AHPRA) and a postgraduate qualification in Surgery. FRACS is desirable. The successful applicant will demonstrate high level expertise and experience in delivery of General Surgical services
