== The Position == Due to growth in the department, our client is seeking a skilled Specialist to undertake a 50:50 General Medicine and Gastroenterology post in modern teaching hospital. You will be joining a welcoming and diligent team of 3 Gastroenterologists plus two general surgeons who also perform endoscopies. Support comes in the form of a nursing team with extensive gastroenterology experience in areas such as endoscopy, IBD, and hepatitis.   Your responsibilities will involve the provision of a high standard of clinical practice and clinical expertise and effective gastroenterological and general medical services along with providing supervision and instruction for RMOs. Procedures conducted in the unit include gastroscopies, colonoscopies, ERCPs, stents, pegs, as well as gastroenterology clinics. The department is well resourced with a Supersonic Aixplorer Shear-Wave-Elastography ultrasound machine. In addition to gastroenterology duties, you will also participate on the General Medical admitting roster.   The Hospital The District Health Board is currently undergoing a transformational change programme to firmly establish itself as a high performing health system, making this a very exciting time to join. It is currently working on its investment in developing primary and community care services and relationships to move care into and closer to people?s homes. The post is based at a 350 bed secondary hospital serving a total population catchment of 168,000.
