The Opportunity
As an experienced clinical leader, with passion for developing innovative and contemporary models of care, you will provide clinical and professional leadership and direct clinical governance activities for the services of the Division of Mental Health.
 
You will develop innovative models of contemporary mental health service delivery, utilising demonstrated skills in clinical leadership, knowledge and experience in clinical redesign and experience in change management.
 
The Hospital
The Health Service District provides an integrated network of acute, mental health, aged care, community and allied health inpatient and outpatient services to the community and some services provide extended services to South West Queensland.
 
This progressive mental health service integrates Acute and Community Services, including Adult Mental Health Service, Child and Youth Mental Health Service, Older Persons Mental Health Service, Triage and Acute Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team and the Acute Mental Health Unit and Extended Inpatient Service. The Extended Inpatient Service provides specialist clinical services across Acquired Brain Injury Program, Dual Disability Program, Extended Treatment and Rehabilitation Program, Intellectual Disability Program, Older Persons Program, Secure Services Program and Living Skills Services.
 
With its extensive and comprehensive services, ongoing commitment to service development and improvement, and outstanding education, training and research facilities, this mental health service is renowned for its high standards of service and achievements.
 
The Location
The location is a beautiful, colonial town with a population of 120,000. There is an elegant and gracious city centre with many handsome old buildings and lovely gardens and all the amenities and facilities one would expect to find in a major regional centre, as well as a wealth of places to visit nearby. Essential Criteria
 
Australia/NZMust hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
UK/IrelandMust hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
USAMust hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
CanadaMust hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
 
Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
