The Position
Wavelength are looking for a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist to join a modern regional hospital as their next Head of Department.  The hospital is seeking an experienced Specialist with the drive to influence change, enthusiasm to motivate staff and the ability to seamlessly balance clinical and administrative duties.  
Clinical responsibilities include routine anaesthetic services; pre-admission anaesthetic assessment clinics, participation in the after-hours on-call service, obstetric epidural service and development of an acute pain service. There is an opportunity to be involved in the Intensive Care Unit for an appropriately qualified individual.  
Your leadership duties will include leading service delivery, recruiting and managing a strong and motivated workforce consisting of Staff Specialists and VMO Anaesthetists, creating learning opportunities for junior doctors, whilst maintaining all aspects of clinical governance.
 
The Hospital
Serving a catchment population in excess of 40,000 people, this facility has recently been redeveloped with new digital anaesthetic machines and patient monitors. This 149-bed facility also has 4 operating theatres, day surgery and offers a wide range of specialties including Coronary Care, Obstetric, Paediatric, Psychiatric, Rehabilitation and Intensive Care services. The modern 24-hour emergency department has over 25,000 presentations per annum, with 14,500 patient admissions.

Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will hold a FANZCA and be registered as a Specialist with AHPRA.
