The Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a Senior Specialist Clinician to fill the position of Addiction Psychiatrist role.  
You will be required to provide high quality psychiatry services to consumers of the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service and provide clinical leadership for the Mental Health clinical team.
The position requires a candidate with a solid background in psychiatric practice, with no less than the equivalent of six years full-time service in medical practice as a Staff Specialist.
The Hospital
This tertiary, teaching hospital holds over 340 beds and serves as the primary hospital for an estimated current population of 140,000. The hospital also serves as the referral hospital for rural and remote communities for the surrounding areas expanding the services area to 614,000 square kilometres – approximately twice the size of Victoria.
The hospital has a wide range of specialist services in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Coronary Care, acute medical and surgical, Rehabilitation, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Mental Health.
The hospital prides itself on looking after their staff. It offers staff accommodation on campus, from single air-conditioned units to four-bedroom houses. In addition, there are many sporting facilities you can use to keep fit and healthy including an air-conditioned gymnasium and squash courts, outdoor tennis courts and a sparkling 25-metre pool under shade cloth. There is also a comprehensive health library you can access with 10,000 books and 500 journal titles available. Medical databases are networked throughout the Campus and there are Medline searching, reference and inter-library loans services as well.

Essential Criteria
Australia/NZMust hold FRANZCP or FRACMA, and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
UK/IrelandMust hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
USAMust hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
CanadaMust hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
