Exciting opportunity with a challenging and fascinating patient mix
- Excellent executive support with mental health viewed as a priority
- Just over 4 hours from Sydney with good links to North NSW
- A growing region with fantastic property prices
As a Staff Specialist in Psychiatry, you will provide your expertise across two facilities (40-minutes apart) in a General Adult setting. At both sites, the General Adult role also includes Community duties, rapid response and long-term case management. You will provide your support to Inpatient Units at both facilities as well as input to the Community team and some crisis duties. You will be well supported by 4 Registrars across the network and interns in the Inpatient facilities. An on-call commitment is required (telephone support only) of 1:8. There is some flexibility regarding the final job plan and discussions will follow with the successful candidate. You will benefit from TESL leave as well as relocation support.
The first facility consists of a 10-bed voluntary Inpatient Unit and the other is a newly opened 12 bed Inpatient Unit, hoping to add another 12 beds in the coming months. This extension would include a separate short-term admission adolescent section and older persons section as well. You will experience diversity in terms of the demographic differences between the two facilities, one being an affluent coastal town with a strong outdoors culture while the other features more socioeconomic challenges and large Aboriginal communities, leading to a clinically challenging but fascinating work load. Both posts have teaching and research opportunities, having close links with several Universities and a clinical school.
This is a beautiful area with fantastic property prices, good local schools and a growing and developing community. The region is a major centre along the coast between Sydney and Brisbane with good links to Northern NSW and Hunter New England. There is a local airport, or alternatively Sydney is only a 4.5 hour drive away. The local area is known as a wildlife wonderland with truly spectacular wildlife encounters and sights to be discovered. You will be encompassed by beautiful green landscapes, stunning coastlines and beaches to relax and unwind in your downtime, as well as a range of nearby quaint villages.
To be considered for this role you must hold Fellowship of the RANZCP or recognised equivalent from a comparable country. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please forward a copy of your CV for review.
