Join a service with excellent executive support and ideal location between Sydney and Brisbane
- Challenging and fascinating patient mix
- Surround yourself with beautiful natural landscapes and wildlife
- A growing region with fantastic property prices
As a Staff Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, you will provide your expertise across two facilities (40-minutes apart). Currently, the Child and Adolescent team is split into child and family for those under 12 years and adolescent for those 12-18 years (or in some cases 24 years when psychosis is involved). There is the option of combining these into one service if you would prefer to cover a full range of cases. The team is based predominately outside of the hospitals, supported by a fantastic Community team. With regards to admissions, these are generally managed in the Paediatric ward or for Adolescent cases they are transferred to the nearby regional centres or in some cases closely managed on the Adult ward. An on-call commitment is required (telephone support only) of 1:8.
With this role there is also the opportunity to take on more of a district wide lead role and renumeration can be negotiated to reflect these enhanced managerial duties. Other benefits include TESL leave as well as relocation support.
One of the facilities is hoping to increase their current 12 bed Inpatient Unit to 24 beds in the coming months, with the extension including a separate short-term admission adolescent section. You will experience diversity in terms of the demographic differences between the two facilities, one being an affluent coastal town with a strong outdoors culture while the other features more socioeconomic challenges and large Aboriginal communities, leading to a diverse, clinically challenging but fascinating community to work with. With this role there are teaching and research opportunities, with close links with several Universities and the clinical school.
This is a beautiful area with fantastic property prices, good local schools and a growing and developing community. The region is a major centre along the coast between Sydney and Brisbane with good links to Northern NSW and Hunter New England. There is a local airport, or alternatively Sydney is only a 4.5 hour drive away. The local area is known as a wildlife wonderland with truly spectacular wildlife encounters and sights to be discovered. You will be encompassed by beautiful green landscapes, stunning coastlines and beaches to relax and unwind in your downtime, as well as a range of nearby quaint villages.
To be considered for this role you must hold Fellowship of the RANZCP or recognised equivalent from a comparable country. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please forward a copy of your CV for review.
