The Position

As a Staff Specialist Physician, you will provide clinical care to patients and clinically manage, on a day-to-day basis, the associated multidisciplinary patient care team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care, in collaboration with the Director of Medicine. Further, you will support the continued improvement of health services by participating in quality improvement opportunities. Your expertise will be utilised in providing teaching sessions to undergraduate medical students and all levels of Junior Medical Staff, as well as undertake performances appraisals. The Hospital & Health Service

This health service covers an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres and services many of the remote communities within North Western Queensland. The primary facility is an 80-bed, level 4 hospital which offers primary, secondary and community health services in addition to specialist services such as anaesthetics, paediatrics, psychiatry, surgery and obstetrics & gynaecology

Essential Criteria

To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRACP or be close to completing your fellowship and be eligible for registration with AHPRA. You will have demonstrated clinical knowledge, experience and skills extending across the broad range of general medicine and demonstrated competence in clinical problem solving at an advanced level. An interest in and proven ability to teach at both an undergraduate and post-graduate level is desirable, along with a commitment to continuing research, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
