Wavelength is seeking a driven surgeon to take charge of providing comprehensive Otolaryngology Services to the people of Central Queensland. You will participate in both inpatient and outpatient services and provide on-call coverage as required. Bringing your passion for learning and growth to the role you will take the lead in research activities relating to your specialty and will take an active role in the development and supervision of junior medical staff and students. Our client is a state-of-the-art 305-bed hospital which acts as the main referral hospital for a growing population of approximately 230,000. The hospitals modern, 24-hour Emergency Department sees approximately 48,000 presentations per annum, with a total of 38,991 patients admitted to the Hospital for medical services.
Specialist Medical Services include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.
Our clients Department of Surgery has four operating theatres, two procedure rooms and is supported by a 6 bed ICU/HDU. The Department is accredited for specialist training and is heavily involved in teaching and research.
Situated half way between Brisbane and Townsville, this town is a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and offers plenty of activities to keep you and your family entertained; including museums, botanical gardens, a crocodile farm and a local zoo. The beach is perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating. Locally there are four shopping centres with plenty of alfresco dining options for you to enjoy the tropical climate. The region is well served by both private and public schools, including several for boarders, alongside being easily accessible via all modes of transport.
The successful candidate will hold Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and hold or be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA. They will be able to demonstrate clinical experience and skills in Otolaryngology, a passion for leadership and a commitment to continuing professional education.
