The Position

Wavelength has a unique opportunity for a Staff Specialist – General Medicine / Acute Care services to deliver high quality services within a large regional hospital. You will receive a generous remuneration package as you provide specialist medical care to patients, further your involvement in research and quality improvement activities and provide your expert consultative services to colleagues and external stakeholders. You will enjoy a day roster in this permanent position, with hours able to be negotiated. Additionally, you will have an interest in sharing your knowledge, supervising and teaching tertiary students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Hospital

This centre is the primary healthcare facility for the region, offering a large range of medical, surgical and specialist services. This facility has 300 beds providing care across the areas of Oncology, Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Paediatrics, Rehabilitation and Psychiatric care. The Hospital has strong links with the local University, with the medical school being located on the same campus alongside a strong focus on teaching and research within the hospital as an accredited teaching facility. The Hospital is fitted with a modern 24-hour Emergency Department with over 46,317 presentations annually, with approximately 24,000 admissions alongside another 225,000 outpatients being treated in the past year.

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate will hold fellowship with RACP and be registered as a Specialist with the Medical Board of Australia.
