Wavelength are currently seeking a Specialist in Intensive Care to join a high performing team based in a state-of-the-art hospital. You will use your clinical expertise to provide high-quality intensive care services to patients within your care and you will use your leadership and management skills to assist the Director of ICU to run a successful department. This will include educating and supervising junior medical staff, trainees and students, driving service planning and improvement programs and encouraging and participating in research activities.
This state-of-the-art hospital offers a wide range of medical services to a growing population of approximately 230,000. The Hospital has 305 beds and is the main referral hospital for Central QLD. The hospitals modern, 24 hour Emergency Department sees approximately 48,000 presentations per annum, with a total of 38,991 patients admitted to the Hospital for medical services.
Specialist Medical Services include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.
The Intensive Care Unit currently has 10-beds with the capacity to increase to 14-beds in the coming years. As a regional facility the unit sees a varied caseload and cares for both adult and paediatric patients. The unit sees 450 - 650 presentations a year, including 60 - 100 paediatric admissions per annum.
Situated half way between Brisbane and Townsville, this town is a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and offers plenty of activities to keep you and your family entertained. The local beaches are perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating. This town has four shopping centres with plenty of alfresco dining options for you to enjoy the tropical climate. The region is well served by both private and public schools, including several for boarders, alongside being easily accessible via all modes of transport.
To be successful in applying for this position you will hold or be eligible for Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) and fellowship with the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (CICM). You will be able to demonstrate. You will be able to demonstrate your extensive clinical experience and your ability to successfully lead multidisciplinary teams.
