The Position

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide a comprehensive, culturally sensitive best practice psychiatric service as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This involves providing client and family inclusive assessment and treatment for those referred to Mental Health Services. Alongside a highly effective team, you will provide vital work within the Inpatient setting. You will be joining another experienced full-time Psychiatrist in the Inpatient Service. Further, you will be supported across the wider Mental Health Team with 7 Psychiatrists and 5 Medical Officers/Registrars. You will also participate in policy development and clinical service planning. Working hours are negotiable from 0.8 to 1 FTE, allowing for greater flexibility. The Service

This Psychiatric Service includes a community mental health team, with 24-hour acute intervention, general adult, child and adolescent, older persons and addiction medicine. Inpatient care for acute rehabilitation is provided through an onsite 30-bed Inpatient Unit. The broader Health Service in the main provider for the top of the South Island, and the region's largest employer with 3000 staff, creating endless opportunities. The services main locations consist of 2 hospitals however services are spread across the region throughout the community.

Essential Criteria
