This highly regarded hospital is seeking a Principal House Officer (PHO) or Registrar to join their Mental Health Unit in providing world-class health services to improve the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of people in the region through holistic, innovative and responsive models of patient care. You will join a multidisciplinary team of caring, skilled and dedicated staff on a 6 or 12-month contract, available to commence February 2020.
You will provide your guidance and supervision to junior medical staff of the Mental Health Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Service, and deliver inpatient and outpatient mental health assessment and management programs under the supervision of Consultant Psychiatrists. Through continuing professional development programs and educational opportunities you will maintain clinical and professional knowledge and skills, and you will also benefit from this service's partnerships that provide internationally recognised education and research.
This Far North Queensland hospital is responsible for providing public hospital and health services to a population of approximately 250,000 people. The Mental Health service holds 48 beds in Mental Health wards at the recently renovated hospital and consists of a consultation liaison psychiatry service, several community mental health teams, a Forensic Mental Health Team, a Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Treatment Team, Older Persons Mental Health Team, an Acute Care Team, an Emergency Department Mental Health Team, A Dual Diagnosis Team, a Rural and Remote area Mental Health Service and Child and Youth Mental Health Services. The service is a specialist evidence based service for children, youth, adults and aged persons who have serious and complex mental health needs.
