The Position

Wavelength is seeking a Palliative care specialist to join their department. You will be responsible for providing care for inpatient and outpatient services alongside Cancer Care. There is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and oversee the Palliative Care Outreach Program, supporting patients in the last 3 months of life, requiring support in their own homes, with requirements and / or equipment. This will often involve liaising with GPs, utilising telehealth where suitable for patients living in remote areas or with illness inhibiting at outpatient attendance. In addition, you will also hold responsibility for the organisation and implementation of training, education and supervision of medical students and staff.

The Hospital

This medium-sized 320+ bed hospital provides public services to a population of 200,000. In conjunction with the District, it provides an integrated network of acute, mental health, aged care, community and allied health inpatient and outpatient services. There are 79 non-consultant hospital doctors and approximately 30 staff specialists across the various specialties. In addition, there are approximately 40 visiting specialists, who provide services to this hospital. The hospital itself is large enough to offer a varied and full clinical workload while maintaining the friendliness and atmosphere of a smaller hospital. Additionally, it is an accredited teaching hospital.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in applying for this position uou will hold Specialist registration with the AHPRA and be a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (AChPM).
