As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, you will be primarily working at this hospital with some travel across the district expected at times. The department consists of a 14 room maternity unit with 4 birthing rooms, a level two 5 cot neonatal unit and a dedicated Women’s Health Unit. You will be well supported by a team of experienced midwives, obstetrics, gynaecology and colposcopy nurses. You will need to participate in the on-call roster, routine obstetrics, routine gynaecology and colposcopy clinics, as well as some outreach clinics. On offer is an attractive remuneration package, relocation assistance and CME allowance.
You will be joining a modern secondary level facility, with first class clinical support facilities and excellent links to the closest tertiary centre. There are approximately 1400 births per year at the hospital and a further 200 in the rural areas. The department has University affiliations and a strong focus on educational development with daily obstetric handover and weekly teaching sessions and it recently achieved a four year accreditation for O&G training by RANZCOG.

Applicants must have completed, or be about to complete their Specialist training and be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). A wide range of applicants will be considered, from new Fellows to experienced Specialists with an interest in clinical leadership, complex Obstetrics or Urogynaecology.
