As a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you will provide exceptional care and treatment to patients alongside 3 other O&G Consultants. You will also be assisted by Registrars (1 accredited and 1 unaccredited) as well as an HMO and Interns. Working together as a team you will cater to a catchment population of approximately 80,000. Experience in advanced laparoscopic gynaecology is highly desired, at a level 3/4. This position requires a laparoscopy level of 3/4. You will not see high risk births as they are sent to Melbourne before due date. Currently the on-call requirement is 1 night per week and 1:4 weekends.
This Level 1 Tertiary Teaching Hospital provides a range of acute services including emergency, maternity, intensive care, general medicine and surgery, medical imaging, pathology, dialysis and mental health. The hospital consists of 164 beds and enjoys modern equipment. The hospital is affiliated with various Universities for the provision of placements, and training and education. The O&G ward itself encompasses 3 staffed and 1 unstaffed birth suits, 8 staffed and 4 unstaffed postnatal beds, 4 staffed and 2 unstaffed SCN beds. The department sees approximately 850 births per year, with 45 midwives caring for low risk women independently and high-risk women with medical supervision. There is also a Public Antenatal and Gynaecology Clinic, with Colonoscopy provided by other medical practitioners. With a new paediatric ward currently in development, neonatal and paediatric beds will increase, staffed by 5 Paediatricians.
