Achieve an enviable work-life balance with this permanent part-time opportunity
- Utilise your expertise working 20-hours per week
- Well supported by experienced nursing staff
- A fantastic location to enjoy the local and surrounding scenery
As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, you will work 20-hours per week in this part-time role. This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your expertise while also having the chance to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life and more ‘you time’. You will be well supported by a team of experienced midwives, obstetrics, gynaecology and colposcopy nurses, working primarily at the hospital with some travel across the district as required. There is an on-call requirement as well as routine obstetrics, routine gynaecology and colposcopy clinics including some outreach clinics.
You will be joining a hospital that sees approximately 1,400 births per year and a further 200 in the surrounding areas. The department consists of a 14-room maternity unit with 4 birthing rooms, a level 2 5-cot neonatal unit and a dedicated Women’s Health Unit. The department has University affiliations and a strong focus on educational development with daily obstetric handover and weekly teaching sessions, recently achieving a 4-year accreditation for training with RANZCOG. The broader health service provides care to a population of approximately 329,000 people, through 2 main centres.
Situated south of the South Island, this area is renowned for their friendly and unhurried pace of life. There is a strong sense of community and belonging, not only within the hospital but throughout the local landscape. There are abundant sports and other amenities, including excellent educational facilities, as well as a vibrant arts and cultural scene. Home to two of New Zealand’s national parks, there is a wide range of recreational activities to be experienced with some of the best hiking and scenery, internationally acclaimed fishing and a wide range of other outdoor pursuits to suit all. You will spoilt for choice with a range of shops and selection of lively bars and restaurants.
Often thought to be a cold climate, the weather is actually better than what you would experience in Wellington, while being within easy reach of beautiful Queenstown. Five top snowboarding and skiing destinations are also within easy driving distance. With the flexibility of a part-time arrangement, you will be able to take full advantage of the fantastic lifestyle on offer.
You must be a Fellow of RANZCOG and eligible for Vocational (specialist) registration with MCNZ. Candidates requiring a visa to work in New Zealand cannot be supported at this stage. If you are unsure of your eligibility, feel free to forward a copy of your resume for review.
