As an integral part of a small team you will use your specialist clinical knowledge to provide exceptional patient-focused care across a variety of anaesthesia services including; in elective and emergency theatre cases; in the hospital’s ICU; in the Pre-Admission clinic, and through your participation in the anaesthetic on-call roster.
In addition to your clinical duties you will work closely with the Director of Anaesthetics/ICU to assist in managing the department. This will include; the management of medical staff in the Department of Anaesthetics and Intensive Care including rostering, recruitment, succession planning, performance appraisals and supervision of junior medical staff; establishing and participating in regular audits and risk management programs that drive change and process improvements; designing and initiating research activities; and collaborating with other clinicians and managers on service improvement projects.
You will be joining a tight-knit team in a modern, 165-bed tertiary teaching hospital. The hospital is located in a regional hub and is operated by a private health care company who provide public hospital services on behalf of the Victoria Government to a population of approximately 80,000 people. The hospital provides a range of Acute Services including Emergency, Maternity, Intensive Care, General Medicine and Surgery, Oncology, Medical Imaging, Pathology, Dialysis, Mental Health (inpatient and community services) and a range of Ambulatory Services.
The growing Department of Anaesthetics currently consists of four Staff Specialist Anaesthetists and the Director of Anaesthetics/ICU. The team has a patient focused ethos and continually strive to improve their workflow and patient outcomes.

To be successful in your application you will be registered or be eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (RANZCA) or equivalent specialist qualifications.
You will be able to demonstrate your extensive experience in anaesthetics, a commitment to continued medical education and the ability to build relationships and work well in a small team.
