The Opportunity

Cooma Hospital and Health Service is a 41-bed facility with renal and oncology outpatient services as well as 24-hour Accident and Emergency. This is an opportunity for highly skilled clinicians with extensive experience in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team of experienced specialists, GP VMO’s and midwives. They provide quality birthing services and post-natal care, 24/7 advice, consultation and emergency intervention to support the delivery of high-quality obstetrics care to patients.

Visiting medical officers in this facility are required to participate in service and policy development as well as maintaining involvement with education, training and quality projects activities. The Location

Set among rolling plains, legendary rivers and snow-covered peaks, Cooma is the largest town in the Snowy Mountains region and is the gateway to the state’s alpine area and is only an hour’s drive to Canberra!

There is skiing in winter and golf, tennis, squash, basketball and netball in summer, to name just a few. Bushwalking and mountain biking in the wilderness are exhilarating too, with Kosciuszko National Park the home of Australia’s highest peak. Between Cooma and the sparkling Sapphire Coast is Wadbilliga National Park, where the Cascades walking track leads to the tumbling Tuross River.

Shopping is a breeze in Cooma with a large variety of shops and loads of free on and off-street parking.

Essential Criteria

Registered or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Registered or eligible for registration for Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent specialist qualifications
