If you are looking to make a difference within your GP career, then this could be the ideal opportunity for you! A family friendly Aboriginal medical service is looking for a full-time GP to join their team and provide much needed health care to local indigenous communities. With four doctors and two GP registrars working at the practice, there is patient demand for additional doctors to join the team.
The service has 4 practices located in rural North-west QLD; Mt Isa, Doomadgee, Mornington Island and Normanton.
They are ideally looking for a GP to work in remote rural communities, You may consider rotating between our 4 practices or working from the one. The service can be flexible with working arrangements and can consider a mix of in community (onsite) & telehealth (at home) for the right candidate.
Helping you along the way will be nurses, aboriginal health workers, a community liaison officers and reception staff. All practices are well-equipped with everything you need to ensure you can provide exceptional healthcare. There are allied health services available to patients including a physiotherapist, dietician, dentist, psychologist, and a child family health team.
Family friendly hours are on offer with the practices operating from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will be able to enjoy your weekends and evenings with family and friends as there is no on-call commitment or weekend hours required.

The Aboriginal Medical Service Mt Isa practice is ideally situated in Queensland’s vast Northwest in arid, and romantic, Outback Australia. Affectionately known as the ‘oasis of the outback ‘- a gleaming mirage on the horizon for travellers from all directions. It is a bustling melting pot of culture and industry being home to one the most productive single mines and the southern hemisphere’s largest rodeo. RACGP PEP-Specialist Pathway eligible international candidates and GPs holding Specialist Registration with AHPRA are eligible for this role.
Special interests in Indigenous health and Emergency Medicine are highly desirable for the position, however not essential as there will be a senior GP mentor to assist GPs without any AMS experience.
