The Position

Out of Hours services are becoming more and more relied on, and very much a vital part of the healthcare service around Ireland. As a member of this medical team you will have the availability to cover clinical sessions out of hours, 6pm-8am Monday - Friday and 24 hours on public holidays and weekends. The role will involve either working from a base, or travelling to homes, places of work or hotels, depending on the location of the patient. You will have a driver available to you at all times, so no need to worry about travelling to and from locations.

You will be required to carry out a clinical consultation and issue prescriptions or make referrals. You will also be responsible for writing your own clinical notes.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in applying for this position you must hold the following key requirements:

• Fully qualified in General Practice - Hold MICGP / FRACGP or equivalent

• Hold registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or be eligible for registration

• Hold personal Medical Indemnity

• 5 years experience of working as a locum GP in Primary Care clinics or in Out of Hours services.

The successful applicant must be adaptable and very detail orientated. You must have an excellent bed side with compassion and care shown at all times.

You must be of high integrity and must have good communication skills. Being able to work as part of a team is essential, as is being comfortable working independently and making the correct clinical calls.
