Enjoy the flexibility and autonomy of this fantastic opportunity in tropical paradise

  • Manage your own patients in a private setting
  • FIFO or part-time arrangements may be considered
  • Choose your own work days and hours

The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a General Adult Psychiatrist in private practice within the inpatient unit and private clinics. With referrals provided from GP’s and other specialist admissions, all patients are presenting on a voluntarily basis with a high prevalence of mood disorders being seen. Although at times you may be required to work on-call and weekends this will not be in an acute capacity like in the public setting, you will just be available to manage your patients. You must also be able to admit patients where required.

A benefit of this role is that it provides a great deal of autonomy, such as choosing to work over 5 or 6 days, to start late and finish early, to change your day for clinics week by week – the choice is yours. Fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) arrangements may also be considered as well as part-time hours (3 days or 0.5FTE minimum).

The Hospital

You will be joining a team of Psychiatrists, Medical, Nursing and Allied Health professionals in providing expert care to manage and treat mental health disorders within this 60-bed private hospital. The hospital manages all administration, marketing, bookings and billings and you will have access to a private room for clinics. What’s more there is an income guarantee in the first instance.

The Location

Situated on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, you will enjoy a tropical climate and due to geographical location, rainfall is not as high as elsewhere in the tropics, meaning winter months are dominated by blue skies, warm days and cool nights. You will be encompassed by nature, with rivers, creeks and freshwater wetland within easy reach. The beautiful coastline features beaches, mangroves, hills and mountains. The natural habitats support a wide range of flora and fauna, and you'll also be within close proximity to the stunning Great Barrier Reef. Being a popular tourist destination, this location is sure to be a welcomed sea change with the awe-inspiring reef, World Heritage Wet Tropics rainforests as well as the diverse dirt and dust of the Australian outback. There are plenty of markets to explore, shopping precincts and year-round events in theatre, music and sports.
