As an Emergency Medicine Specialist, you will provide high quality, timely, efficient, compassionate and patient-centred care to all patients presenting to the Emergency Department. Your expertise will be utilized in providing supervision and hands-on training to ED RMOs, as well as educating ACEM provisional and advanced trainees. You will actively lead the oversight of the clinical floor and patient flow in a manner that prioritises patient care as well as staff wellbeing. You will be joining a dedicated team consisting of a Clinical Director, 9.5FTE Emergency Specialists or Senior Medical Officers and you will be well supported by 18 RMOs, 2 nurse practitioners and 3 clinical nurse specialists.
This regional hospital has a capacity of more than 330 beds and services a growing population of over 180,000, including rural communities and the urban population. It provides level 4-5 services including medical, surgical, paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology and mental health, as well as a range of clinical support services and allied health. The Emergency Department itself sees a diverse case mix with 55,000 presentations per annum of which 21% is paediatric. Servicing one of the fastest growing populations in the country, this hospital has undergone significant redevelopment in recent years to allow the hospital to keep up with demand.
You will be working in a harbourside city on New Zealand’s North Island. To be considered for this role you must be a Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) or equivalent with experience from a comparable healthcare system (Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Canada or USA). You will have previous experience as a Consultant or Advanced Training Registrar in Emergency Medicine.
