As a Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine, you will provide timely assessment, consultation and clinical management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. You will provide supervision, support and education to other clinicians in the department, particularly Junior and Middle Grade Medical Officers, as well as participate in activities that further the provision of quality care within the Emergency Department and hospital at large. There are 2 Consultants on every shift and the assistance of 12 Registrars, a CMO, SRMO and RMO that work throughout the department.
You will be joining a secondary hospital with over 250 beds, providing emergency and critical care services, general medical and surgical services, obstetrics and gynaecology, rehabilitation and mental health services. There are direct links to the ACT hospice and teaching and training links with nearby Universities. The Emergency Department itself sees 60,000 presentations per annum with a 25% paediatric caseload. You will see occasional trauma and cases from category 1 to category 5. The department is accredited for 12 months of advanced training with ACEM.

You must hold current registration or be eligible to apply for Specialist registration with the Australian Medical Board (AHPRA) with experience from a comparable healthcare system (Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Canada or USA).
