As an experienced and knowledgeable Specialist in Emergency Medicine, you will provide effective leadership and clinical expertise within the Emergency Department. You will provide comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes and provide support and training to Junior Medical Officers, Career Medical Officers, GP Registrars and other team members. You will communicate effectively with staff and clinicians to ensure the quality and continuity of care, and actively participate in risk management and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices. You will have the opportunity to assist in medical clinical governance to ensure patienty safety, quality improvement and contribute to the initiatives that address NSW Health KPIs for Emergency Departments.
The hospital is an innovative and dynamic organisation dedicated to providing the highest level of healthcare and improving the health and wellbeing of our community. It has 120 beds and opened in 2009, serving a town population of roughly 45,000 people but a significantly larger catchment. This Level 3 mixed care Emergency Department sees approximately 25,000 patients per year with a rate of admission of 35% with a reasonable load of high-acuity patients.There are accredited Registrars in Anaesthetics, Medicine, Surgery, and Paediatrics, as well as Registrars in O&G and Orthopaedics. The Department receives support from inpatient teams and works closely with local services and other hospital and retrieval services.

You must hold Specialist registration with the Australian Medical Board (AHPRA) and Fellowship with ACEM, or be eligible for registration as a Specialist in Australia.
