As a Resident Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine, you will join a supportive department in providing high quality Emergency services to this growing region. This is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your expertise in the Emergency setting with a supportive healthcare service. Multiple roles are available with 6-month contracts on offer.
The hospital is an innovative and dynamic organisation dedicated to providing the highest level of healthcare and improving the health and wellbeing of our community. It has 120 beds and opened in 2009, serving a town population of roughly 45,000 people but a significantly larger catchment. This Level 3 mixed care Emergency Department sees approximately 25,000 patients per year with a 35% admission rate and a reasonable load of high-acuity patients. There are accredited Registrars in Anaesthetics, Medicine, Surgery, and Paediatrics, as well as Registrars in O&G and Orthopaedics. The Department receives support from inpatient teams and works closely with local services and other hospital and retrieval services.
This city offers a pleasant country lifestyle with affordable housing, excellent public and private school education and a University. It is just two and a half hours drive from Sydney. The region is conveniently located with effective transport links to Sydney and Canberra. Within the local area, a daily commute of no more than 10 minutes to work can be enjoyed. This is the major regional centre for the growing town, with a population of about 41,000 people and the draining population constitutes a patient base of about 60,000. This is the fastest growing inland city in NSW and has strong employment. The demographics indicate it has a young population, and it is one of the few towns managing to retain the 15-24 age group.
