Multiple opportunities are available within this Emergency Department providing trauma and emergency healthcare across the region. You will deliver high-quality medical services and medical support to the ED. You will have a minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience to work as a Hospital Medical Officer (HMO), or for more experienced clinicians there are opportunities for Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) with at least 10 years postgraduate experience and a substantial background in Emergency Medicine.
As a HMO you will promote the professional development of more junior doctors. Within the SMO role, your experience and expertise will be utilised in providing leadership and supervision to Interns, HMOs and Registrars, and providing expert input into clinical governance activities. Specialist rural and remote training pathways exist and applicants with these career aspirations will be supported. Alternatively, if you are looking for a lifestyle change but wanting to maintain your skills and expertise in a leadership position then the SMO role will provide you with the perfect platform to do this.

This large healthcare service provides care to a rapidly growing population of over 44,000. In response to an increase in population growth over the last 10 years, this service is continually increasing its capacity to service the needs of the community. Being a well-established hospital, it holds 51 acute beds, 20 sub-acute/rehabilitation beds, a HDU, modern theatre suite, Emergency Department, 5-bed short stay unit, palliative care, maternity services as well as an Aged Care facility, full-range of Allied Health services, outpatients services and home-based services to name but a few. The Emergency Department itself currently receives approximately 20,000 varied presentations per year including trauma cases.

To be successful you will hold current registration with AHPRA or be eligible to apply for registration with experience from a country with a comparable healthcare system such as New Zealand, Ireland, the UK, Canada or USA. You will have postgraduate experience in Emergency Medicine.
