The Position

As a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, you will provide high quality clinical services and play a role in the education of medical staff and students, allied health professionals and interested community groups or nursing staff. Part of the role also involves active participation in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities. The Hospital

This hospital is the main referral facility for the district which serves a population of approximately 182,000 people with a typical regional case-mix including farmers, miners, the elderly and retired, dependents, alcoholics and the drug-effected. The service deals with accidents and retrievals from surrounding islands, mining and farming areas, making it a central and vital facility for the region. The Emergency Department itself sees 50,000 presentations per year including 25-30% paediatrics, a 25-30% admission rate and a significant trauma case-load. The hospital has been redeveloped at a cost of over $400 million, with a current capacity of over 230 beds. It is a digital hospital, equipped with leading technology to assist you in providing the highest level of care and comfort to patients.
