This Mental Health Service is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Psychiatrist with an interest in Rehabilitation, to join their team. You will be providing your support to a 20-bed secure inpatient unit (medium to long-term acute care) and providing residential rehabilitation cover for those who are in the chronically ill cohort (often with a forensic history). Other duties will be within the field of General Adult Psychiatry and to utilise your expertise in providing teaching to Registrars and medical students. You will be well supported and enjoy collegial relationships with a great group of Psychiatrists and a committed and enthusiastic cohort of Psychiatry Trainees. With this in mind those who have recently obtained their fellowship are also encouraged to apply
There is the flexibility to move across other settings if you have other interests that you wish to explore in the future in order to build a varied skill set.
The service is a comprehensive, well-structured and supportive environment which balances reasonable work responsibilities with support for professional development and opportunities to lead service improvements. This service has a good history of moving people around to build skill sets in other areas of interest, making it a great opportunity to continuously develop your knowledge and expertise within the one service. The broader health service is a 700 bed service that treats more than 44,000 inpatients, triages more than 50,000 emergency attendees and welcomes more than 1,400 new born babies in a year.
You will be working in a beautiful, accessible and inexpensive city which provides a great place to live, work and raise a family. It is Victoria’s third largest urban centre with a population of over 100,000, offering a change of pace and scenery. You will have all the benefits of living in a regional setting but still have easy access to everything a large city has to offer, with Melbourne only 90 minutes away. Locally, you will enjoy award-winning restaurants and cafes, browse the shopping precincts for fashion houses and collectables and enjoy the local wine and produce from nearby farms and vineyards. The education facilities are excellent and include outstanding private and public schools as well as higher education options.
