The Position

There are a number of opportunities for Consultant Psychiatrists to provide psychiatry services to adults aged 18 to 65 years within a medical centre, supporting and assisting the Unit Head of Adult Psychiatry. Permanent part-time (0.4FTE) positions are available in the Community Mental Health Service and the Community Care Unit. A fixed-term part-time (0.4FTE) position is available within the Mobile Support and Treatment Service (ending November 2020). Within these roles, participation in after-hours duty and ECT rosters are essential. The Consultant positions are well-supported by more than 900 Junior Medical Staff, across 200 medical specialities. The service is dedicated to improving the health of the community with a focus on prevention and early intervention, community-based treatment and rehabilitation as well as research, education and teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals. The Mental Health Services provide a range of community, bed-based and specialist services across a population of almost one million, with an operational budget of $130 million.

Essential Criteria

To be eligible for this role you must hold Specialist registration with the Australian Medical Board (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). Late stage senior registrars, awaiting fellowship within the next 2 months, are encouraged to apply.
