The Position

An exciting permanent, full-time opportunity is available for a Consultant Psychiatrist experienced in Older Persons Mental Health. You will provide a high standard of clinical practice and clinical expertise, contributing to the provision of efficient and effective psychiatry services to the community and region.

The Hospital

The Health Service District provides an integrated network of acute, mental health, aged care, community and allied health inpatient and outpatient services to the community and some services provide extended services to South West Queensland.

This progressive service integrates Acute and Community Services, including Adult Mental Health Service, Child and Youth Mental Health Service, Older Persons Mental Health Service, Triage and Acute Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team and the Acute Mental Health Unit and Extended Inpatient Service. The Extended Inpatient Service provides specialist clinical services across Acquired Brain Injury Program, Dual Disability Program, Extended Treatment and Rehabilitation Program, Intellectual Disability Program, Older Persons Program, Secure Services Program and Living Skills Services.

The Location

Based in a beautiful, colonial town with a population of 120,000, there is an elegant and gracious city centre with many handsome old buildings and lovely gardens and parklands throughout. Here, you will also find many of the amenities offered in larger, cosmopolitan cities, such as theatres, cinemas, modern department stores and malls, and a fantastic array of dining options, ranging from quaint little bistros through to silver service restaurants.

What’s more you are just 2 hours from the stunning coast line, so you can easily escape for idyllic family holidays, soaking up the glorious weather and white sandy beaches. Alternatively, within 90 minutes you will find yourself in the city of Brisbane where you can also access the international airport.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRANZCP or equivalent and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Unless you are a native English speaker you must also meet the English language proficiency requirements.
