Staff Specialist Consultant Psychiatrist’s will provide comprehensive Emergency Department Psychiatric Services, and a component of the Consultation Liaison Service within the hospital. Working within the multidisciplinary mental health team the consultant psychiatrist will provide assessment of individuals who present to the Emergency Department with mental health disorders. Supervisory responsibilities include supervision and teaching of psychiatrist registrars, and other medical staff as required and appropriate.
The hospital is a the largest in Tasmania and a major referral centre services provided include acute, sub-acute mental health, aged care inpatient, and ambulatory services. With links to the University of Tasmania the hospital is a major clinical teaching and research centre. The Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day and includes a critical care Intensive Care Unit

Australia/NZ: Must hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
UK/Ireland: Must hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT/CCST) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
USA: Must hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
