As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will support and assist the Head of the Adult Psychiatry Unit and provide high-quality psychiatry services at this Centre. You will provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care, contribute to ongoing service improvements and innovation as well as support research, education and training of both undergraduate and postgraduate roles in the Unit.
Currently, the Centre is undergoing a major expansion and restructuring of the Senior Medical Staff within the Adult Mental Health Program, making it possible to increase the EFT of Senior Medical Staff as well as creating a number of new positions within the Mental Health Service. On offer is a full-time position although sessional roles are negotiable with a minimum of 0.6FTE plus participation in the ECT and on-call rosters.
You will be joining Victoria’s largest public health service that provides healthcare to one quarter of Melbourne’s population. This service is dedicated to improving the health of the community with a focus on prevention and early intervention, community-based treatment and rehabilitation as well as research, education and teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals. The Mental Health Services provide a range of community, bed-based and specialist services across a population of almost one million, with an operational budget of $130 million. The Centre you will be working in is a teaching and research hospital of international standing, providing a comprehensive range of specialist surgical, medical, allied health and mental health services.

To be eligible for this role you must hold Specialist registration with the Australian Medical Board (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).
