As a Consultant Psychiatrist or Senior Medical Officer in Addiction services, you will deliver contemporary, quality and evidence-informed Addiction Medicine services to patients in a Community setting with the possibility of some Consultation-Liaison to inpatients. You will manage the delivery of patient care for the Alcohol and Other Drug Service, including the management of complex clinical situations, and provide clinical consultation and advice to assist other healthcare workers with management of patients with alcohol and drug related problems. You will determine the suitability for admission to and discharge from the hospital, with appropriate liaison with inpatient services.

Initially offering 450 beds, this will expand to 738 beds with the potential for further expansion to 900 beds beyond 2021. In addition to clinical services, the site also provides education and research facilities. The expanded Health Service, incorporating the University Hospital, will have the capacity to meet the growing health care needs of the local communities. The Service is a multi-campus health service and employees may be required to work across various locations as required.

Australia/NZ: Must hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
UK/Ireland: Must hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
USA: Must hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
Canada: Must hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
