The Position

As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Wavelength brings you the exclusive opportunity to join a supportive and established team, who are passionate in providing services to children, young people and their families who present to the hospital with mental health difficulties. You will primarily be based within a brand-new Paediatric ward where teaching, training, research, and further education is actively encouraged. You will provide supervision to basic and advanced trainees.

Participation in an on-call roster will be required, earning you the relevant allowances on top of your generous base salary, additional allowances, and generous relocation package.

You will join an established team which includes a Clinical Nurse Consultant, a Senior Allied Health Professional, a Psychologist and a Registrar, along with a dedicated lead who has been with the service for many years. What is more, there is an excellent working relationship with the Paediatric Consultants and wider community mental health team as well.

The Hospital

The Royal Hobart Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital for many specialties, and closely associated with the University of Tasmania as a training hospital. Primarily, you will be focused on providing services in the children’s ward, adolescent ward and the emergency department with the occasional need for assistance from the adult mental health inpatient unit.

At times you may be required to provide leave cover support in the community setting or should a split role across both settings be preferred this may also be negotiated. Part time commitments and the opportunity to pursue areas of special interest can also be discussed.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRANZCP or equivalent and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Unless you are a native English speaker you must also meet the English language proficiency requirements.
