What salary can you expect working in Medicine?
• Junior and middle-grade Surgery roles range from $85,000 to $150,000 per year
• Locum General Surgeons and those with subspecialties earn between $1,800 to $3,000 per day
• Locum Orthopaedic Surgeons earn between from $2,000 to $3,000 per day
• General Surgeons and those with subspecialties earn between $270,000 to $400,000 per year

What qualifications do you need to work in Australia and New Zealand?
The specialist qualification in Australia and New Zealand is Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). You can compare your training programme to the RACS training programme to see if it is comparable in terms of content, duration, governance and assessment. If so, it may be worth you applying for Specialist Assessment in Australia or Vocational registration in New Zealand. International qualifications that are often deemed comparable include:
- UK/Ireland – FRCS combined with the CCT (or CCST or JCHMT as appropriate)
- Canada – Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada
- USA – Some Board-Certified Surgeons – depending on training program
