== The Position == You will see an interesting case mix, with an emphasis towards behavioural and developmental cases. There is a small L2 nursery so comfort and experience handling neonates is essential. You must also be able to ventilate and intubate acute cases awaiting transfer to the tertiary referral centre. The Area Health Service covers 2 hospitals 60kms apart and the Paediatricians, along with a senior registrar, share the on call across the 2 campuses. The Hospital is attached to the Rural Clinical School of Medicine situated on campus and teaching will be a requirement of the role. If you are interested to seek an academic appointment this will be strongly supported. Opportunities also exist for you to undertake research, and your interests will be encouraged favourably. The hospital The Area Health service covers a 130 bed community hospital and a 160 bed accredited teaching hospital that is co-located with a 70 bed private facility and a rural health clinical school. The service provides high quality health care and specialist services to a region with a catchment area of 100,000 people. You will be based at the teaching hospital nestled on the coastline. You can literally see the surf lapping at the beach from the hospital corridors. With Tasmania?s pristine wilderness on your doorstep and Melbourne only an hour?s flight away, you will genuinely experience an enviable work/life balance. == Essential Criteria == To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRACP or equivalent and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. You will be an experienced general paediatrician and comfortable with level 2 neonates. Experience in behavioural and developmental paediatrics is desirable. Unless you are a native English speaker you must also meet the English language proficiency requirements.
