Flexibility, Purpose, Belonging: Why Our Wavies Return

At Wavelength, we’re proud to create a workplace people love being part of. But for us, it’s even more meaningful when someone leaves to explore new opportunities - and then chooses to come back.

Recently, we caught up with three of our amazing boomerang Wavies to find out what drew them back to Wavelength. Their stories were a powerful reminder of what makes this place special – the people, the purpose, and the sense of belonging. Here’s what they had to share!

“It truly feels like coming home.” – Helen

For our Quality, Risk & Compliance Manager - Helen Spanos, finding a role that aligned with her personal values was non-negotiable.

“When I look for a role, I ask: do the company’s culture and values align with mine? Is the salary fair and competitive? And can I maintain a healthy balance while still contributing meaningfully?”

Wavelength ticked every box.

“The culture is genuinely supportive, collaborative, and quality driven. Leadership values integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement, which aligns so closely with my role. I’ve always felt respected and empowered to raise concerns, lead initiatives, and make a real impact.”

So why did she come back?

“It was the strength of the culture, leadership, and sense of purpose. I realised how much I valued being part of a team that shares my values. The opportunity to contribute again was something I didn’t want to miss. It truly feels like coming home.”

Her advice to those considering Wavelength?

“Here, your ideas are heard. You’re encouraged to drive continuous improvement, and there’s room to learn and grow if you’re proactive and committed.

“I missed being a Wavie!” – Ilham

Ilham Kazmi, an Associate Recruiter in the GP team expresses how flexibility, an inclusive culture, and feeling recognised were her top priorities.

“Wave ticks every box. There’s genuine flexibility, an amazing team culture, and a strong focus on recognising people’s efforts. The office is beautiful, filled with natural light, and the team is made up of talented, supportive people from all backgrounds.”

What brought her back?

“I missed being a Wavie! There’s a real sense of belonging here – from the inclusive culture to the small everyday moments like casual chats over breakfast or surprise morning teas. It’s the kind of workplace that stays with you, in the best way.”

When asked why she would recommend working here to others, she highlighted the importance of a sentiment that has been at the forefront of Wavelength's culture, “Genuine flexibility, a welcoming and diverse team, and a culture that truly values people. You’re supported, celebrated, and encouraged to grow. Add to that the social side – team breakfasts, thoughtful recognition, and a workspace that makes coming in a joy – and you’ve got something pretty special.”

“A team that lifts you up.” – Lisa

As a parent, the priorities for Lisa Greaves, who works as a Regulatory Coordinator were clear - flexibility, good culture, and a supportive, collaborative environment.

“Having worked at Wavelength before, I knew these already existed. I just had to find out if it was still the case – and was delighted to see that it was. The culture is as great as ever. I work with an incredible team who support me as much as I support them. There’s always open dialogue on how to better ourselves, try new things, and explore.”

Returning also brought newfound flexibility.

“I moved overseas temporarily and was delighted at the opportunity to return years later. Having the chance to work remotely was great as I’d then moved to Tasmania. The flexibility is flawless. Even though I work interstate, I’m in constant contact with my team and others across the business.”

What stands out for her about being a Wavie?

“You get to work in a supportive environment with people who want you to do well – that can be rare. Being encouraged and supported gives you an incentive to push yourself, and you get recognised for hard work. The flexibility goes without saying, and the ability to work remotely and worldwide is phenomenal.”

More than just a workplace

For Helen, Ilham, and Lisa, returning to Wavelength wasn’t just about a job. It was about coming back to a place where they felt valued, supported, and inspired to grow – surrounded by people who genuinely care. It’s no surprise that Wavelength has been recognised as one of the Best Places to Work in 2025 by the AFR.
