== The Position == As a Specialist in General Surgery you will have a broad range of expertise in General Surgery. This position provides a high level of autonomy and responsibility whilst servicing a diverse patient mix as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will provide clinical leadership and support to junior medical staff and students whilst maintaining a high level of clinical care and safety to patients. == The Position == requires you to participate in the on call roster and committee work as required.   The Hospital  The hospital has 80 beds, servicing the communities of North West Queensland. As the major referral centre in the district, the facility sees over 30,000 Emergency presentations per year with over 6,000 admissions. The hospital provides a broad range of services including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics and Palliative Care.   An extensive upgrade is currently being undertaken at this facility with $65.19 million dedicated to improving access to the hospital, upgrades to facilities and amenities. This construction and redevelopment will allow the facility to deliver high level, state of the art care.   == The Location == This oasis in the outback is known as the ?Western gateway to Queensland?.
