== The Position == This is a great opportunity to become part of a fantastic team covering endocrinology and general medicine services across 2 acute hospitals in this region. Working with a team of 6 collegiate physicians with various sub-specialties you will provide specialist diagnosis, treatment and care for endocrinology and general medical patients. The health service has a strong multidisciplinary diabetic service and this appointment will be a key building block in strengthening endocrinology services across the region. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels.  Utilising your leadership skills you will also be involved with the development and training of junior medical staff and FRACP trainees, giving you the opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise. And with the University of Tasmania's rural clinical school based on site there is the opportunity to become further involved in academics and teaching.  The Health Service You will be working at an innovative and dynamic health service that has a range of facilities to provide the best care for their patients, including two acute hospitals, three district hospitals and seven community health centres. The main acute hospital is a 160 bed accredited teaching hospital with an attached rural clinical school and a 70 bed private facility. The second acute hospital is located 60kms away and is a 130 bed community hospital. The health service provides high quality health care and specialist services to a combined catchment area of 100,000 people. The two hospitals both have very busy emergency departments, obstetric and gynaecology services. Paediatrics is primarily located at one site with outpatient services at both sites. There is general surgery and anaesthetics at both hospitals. There are extensive outpatient services for a range of subspecialty services many of which are provided by visiting specialists.  The health service has a great sense of community and camaraderie, with strong social and professional networks.
