== The Position == As an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will be required to demonstrate extensive skills in facilitating effective mental health care across a community setting. You will be working across 3 locations, where 1 weeks in 3 you will be required to travel to more remote locations where you will stay overnight.  You will also be expected to show commitment to, and achievement in, research and in leading and participating in an education program for clinical staff at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. The hospital offers a wide range of medical services to Central Queensland including a 24-hour Emergency Department. Due to high demand, this facility has undergone major redevelopments in recent years, including the completion of new phlebotomy, geriatric and rehabilitation services as well as expansion on medical imaging, emergency and acute assessment and paediatric units. == The Location == Situated half way between Brisbane and Townsville, this town is only a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and offers plenty of activities to keep you and your family entertained; including museums, botanical gardens, a crocodile farm and a local zoo. The beach is perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating.  The city hosts various arts, music and dance festivals throughout the year and has a thriving nightlife with many restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs to choose from. Locally there are four shopping centres. The region is well served by both private and public schools, including several for boarders. The architecture is a mix of colonial through to modern. Homes in the southern suburbs of the river are predominantly older architectural styles; the northern suburbs boast most of the modern homes. The median price of a home is about $250,000 making it a very affordable city in which to live and raise a family.  == Essential Criteria ==   Australia/NZMust hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRAUK/IrelandMust hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or moreUSAMust hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.CanadaMust hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.   Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
