== The Position == As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon you will be joining a team of 4 Orthopaedic Surgeons and have the support of 2 full time House Officers. You will be based in a 40 bed surgical department with 4 operating theatre suites in which all surgical specialities operate. With regards to orthopaedics, knee and hip surgeries are the more common of non-acute procedures conducted. Due to a promotion within the team,  our client is looking for a generalist who will engage in an on call roster of 1 in 4 on weekdays and 1 in 5 on weekends. Ideally this role will suit someone who is looking for a good work/life balance or the opportunity to travel and explore with the option to work full time or a minimum of 0.7FTE.                                    The Hospital The hospital comprises 133 beds and is considered to be a small provincial hospital which provides a range of inpatient, outpatient and community secondary services to around 55,000 people. Main service components include Surgical, Medicalm Paediatric, Aged Care, Maternal, Mental Health and District Nursing.   The hospital experience a very low turnover of staff, this is testament to the family friendly, supportive environment that leads to so many doctors staying for long periods of time. Current staff also report that it is a good sized hospital that lends itself as a lower key, easy going environment.   == The Location == This major port city is 2 hours equal distance between University towns of Christchurch and Dunedin.
